bootstrap-codex-workspace

bootstrap-codex-workspace is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from WildPigKing/codex-project-skill-manager. It costs 69 tokens per session (272 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A read-only planning tool for inspecting a Windows or macOS Codex workspace. It identifies suitable locations for global instructions, user skills, and future projects.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect the environment, review existing skills, propose workspace paths, list planned writes and constraints, and produce an approval-bound plan.
Why use it?
It helps plan workspace setup without writing files or changing locations before the proposed plan is approved.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00069 $0.00272
Opus 5 $0.00034 $0.00136
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00054
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00027

Measured 5d ago against content hash f89701f97930, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

bootstrap-codex-workspace scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/inspect_workspace.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Bootstrap Codex Workspace

Start with discovery, not installation.

  1. Read the repository AGENTS.md consent contract.
  2. Run scripts/inspect_workspace.py without an output path for a read-only report.
  3. Prefer explicit locations already stated in the user's global AGENTS.md.
  4. When a preference is missing, recommend a native Windows or macOS location and label it as a recommendation.
  5. Include the resolved global entry, skills root, future-projects root, skill inventory, proposed writes, constraints, and plan ID.
  6. Show the plan and resulting structure before asking for approval.
  7. Treat approval as valid only for the exact plan ID. A changed plan requires new approval.

Opening this repository is not approval. Never move or reorganize existing projects. Existing skills may be proposed for optional relocation, but remain unchanged until approved.

The inspection script accepts --home and --platform for isolated testing. Do not use a real home directory when forward-testing write behavior.

Files

What ships with it

2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
