Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |

| Opus 5 | $0.00072 | $0.01319 |

Grade B, and why
paseo-spyware-check scanned grade B with 3 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

curl | sh runs whatever the server returns today, which is not necessarily what it returned when this was reviewed.
`child_process`, `curl | sh`, or `EncodedCommand` because they describe what to Downgraded: this mod is about security review, or the phrase is quoted, so it is likely naming the pattern rather than instructing it.
Makes network callslowCapability
Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.
'curl .*\|.*sh' Runs shell commandslowCapability
Expected in a hook, worth knowing in a rule or an instructions file.
'child_process' How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 316 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Paseo Spyware Check
This skill checks a GitHub URL or local repo for suspicious code before the user installs or runs it. It is a risk triage workflow, not a guarantee that code is safe.
The scanner is intentionally independent of Paseo's daemon, MCP tool names, agent profiles, and workspace lifecycle. Paseo 0.6 compatibility depends only on the skill being installed and discovered; scanning remains a local, read-only helper workflow.
Third-party scanners
This skill integrates with external open-source scanner CLIs when they are installed locally. Paseobility does not vendor or redistribute those scanner binaries or rule sets.
scripts/spyware-check.py is the dependency-free, cross-platform scanner.
Scanner schema v2 produces an integrity-digested JSON receipt, a versioned
local security-policy decision, an immutable GitHub commit/tree/path or local
snapshot, severity counts, stable finding IDs, and explicit scan/truncation
metadata. The shell and PowerShell helpers provide the broader human-review
workflow and may use optional third-party scanners.
Core rules
- Default to read-only inspection.
- Do not run the target repo's install, build, test, postinstall, prepare, setup, bootstrap, or app commands.
- Do not install scanner tools until the user explicitly approves the exact package-manager command.
- Clone GitHub URLs into a temporary directory unless the user provided a local path.
- Do not source scripts, import project modules, execute package scripts, or run generated binaries from the target repo.
- Do not print secret values. Report only file paths, key names, line numbers, and redacted snippets.
- Distinguish
confirmed secret,high-risk behavior, suspicious pattern, andneeds manual review. - Treat Markdown/README/docs/examples as documentation: dangerous examples are
informational, while actual configuration/executable content is evaluated for
capabilities and blocking canaries. Only actual lifecycle fields in
package.jsonare lifecycle findings. - API-key variable names declare credential capability; they are not automatically High. Actual token/private-key material, executable remote shell pipes, and persistence canaries are blocking.

What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

paseo-spyware-check is a skill published in the GitHub repository wilgon456/Paseobility (19 stars, last pushed 14d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 144 tokens to every session and 2,638 once invoked, about $0.0007 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it B with 3 findings (downloads and executes remote code, makes network calls, runs shell commands). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
