flutter-state-restoration

flutter-state-restoration is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from yendangn/flutter-app-builder. It costs 64 tokens per session (432 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for preserving Flutter app state when the operating system stops and later recreates the app. It covers saved forms, scroll positions, selected tabs, and page state using on-device restoration tools.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to restore form values, scroll positions, tab selections, and navigation state, and to decide which state should or should not be saved.
Why use it?
It prevents users from losing their place or entered information after process death or an app restart. It also separates ordinary UI state from sensitive data that should use secure storage.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00064 $0.00432
Opus 5 $0.00032 $0.00216
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00086
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00043

Security

Grade A, and why

flutter-state-restoration scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Flutter State Restoration

Full reference: template.md

Key rules

  • HydratedCubit (from hydrated_bloc) automatically serializes/deserializes state to disk. Implement fromJson()/toJson() in every HydratedCubit.
  • fromJson() must be defensive — return a valid default state if JSON is null, malformed, or from an incompatible version.
  • toJson() returns null to skip persistence (e.g., for error states or states with sensitive data).
  • HydratedBloc.storage must be initialized before runApp(): HydratedBloc.storage = await HydratedStorage.build(storageDirectory: dir).
  • RestorationMixin + RootRestorationScope → for scroll, text, tab, and page state that doesn't go through a cubit.
  • Assign restorationScopeId to MaterialApp.router, GoRouter, Scaffold, and any restorable widget.
  • Form restoration: HydratedCubit for field values. RestorationMixin for scroll position.
  • Never persist sensitive data (tokens, PII) via HydratedCubit — use SecureStorage for those.

Files

lib/src/core/di/service_locator.dart ← initializes HydratedBloc.storage
lib/src/app/app_bootstrap.dart ← path_provider for storage directory

Each HydratedCubit is in its feature's presentation/cubit/ folder.

Co-load with

  • flutter-forms — form cubits use HydratedCubit for persistence
  • flutter-storagepath_provider for storage directory
  • flutter-di — storage init in bootstrap

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
