glyphs-file-format

glyphs-file-format is a skill for Claude Code from yintzuyuan/glyphs-reference. It costs 57 tokens per session (1,672 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A reference and validation helper for .glyphs files, the files used by Glyphs font-design software to store font data. It covers versions 2 and 3 and includes machine-readable JSON Schemas for checking file structure.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to look up field meanings and allowed types, compare .glyphs v2 with v3, or validate a file against its schema.
Why use it?
It helps you understand unfamiliar fields, compare format versions, and check whether a .glyphs file has the expected structure.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00057 $0.01672
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00836
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00334
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00167

Security

Grade A, and why

glyphs-file-format scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 7 executable files (scripts/_format_utils.py, scripts/query_schema.py, scripts/query_spec.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

GlyphsFileFormat Spec & Schema Skill

Query the .glyphs file format specification (v2/v3) and JSON Schema definitions from GlyphsSDK. This skill answers two distinct kinds of questions: (1) "What does field X mean and what type is it?" using the human-readable spec, and (2) "How do I validate this file?" using the JSON Schema.

Run all scripts from this skill's base directory. Prepend the base directory path to scripts/ when executing.

Environment

${GLYPHS_SDK_PATH} # Required: Path to GlyphsSDK directory

If the variable is not set, fall back to the plugin-relative submodule at ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/GlyphsSDK/.

Two data sources — which to use

Question Use Reason
What does this key mean? query_spec.py Spec includes prose descriptions
What type is allowed for this key? query_spec.py Spec shows type + default + range
Is this file structurally valid? query_schema.py + the validator script JSON Schema is machine-checkable
What changed from v2 to v3? query_spec.py with --version 2 then default v3 Spec is per-version

Quick Start: Query a Type Definition

python3 scripts/query_spec.py glyph # v3 definition (default)
python3 scripts/query_spec.py glyph --version 2 # v2 definition

Returns the complete definition from the spec including all properties, types, defaults, and descriptions.

Quick Start: List All Types

python3 scripts/query_spec.py --list # All v3 definitions
python3 scripts/query_spec.py --list --version 2 # All v2 definitions

Returns [{name, gs_class}] for every type in the spec. Use this to discover what's available before drilling into a specific type.

Quick Start: Query JSON Schema

python3 scripts/query_schema.py layer # glyphs-3 schema (default)
python3 scripts/query_schema.py layer --schema glyphs-1 # v2 schema
python3 scripts/query_schema.py --list # List all $defs
python3 scripts/query_schema.py --list --schema fontinfo-3 # List fontinfo $defs

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
