biome

biome is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from yriveiro/biome-mcp. It costs 45 tokens per session (546 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Instructions for using a Biome MCP server to check, lint, and format TypeScript and web projects. Biome is a code-quality tool, and these checks report problems without editing files or managing dependencies.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it after changing TypeScript or web code to run Biome checks, inspect diagnostics, and verify formatting on changed or selected files.
Why use it?
It provides a consistent way to verify code quality and formatting while keeping the checks read-only.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00045 $0.00546
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00273
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00109
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00055

Security

Grade A, and why

biome scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

biome Skill

biome-mcp exposes compact, read-only quality checks for TypeScript and web projects. It does not modify source files or manage JavaScript dependencies.

Tools

Need Tool Arguments
Run all Biome checks biome_check paths?: list[str], changed_only?: bool
Run lint checks biome_lint paths?: list[str], `level?: "all"
Verify formatting biome_format paths?: list[str], changed_only?: bool

Use these MCP tools instead of shelling out to Biome when they are in the tool context. Their output is structured and intentionally compact.

Fast Feedback

After changing TypeScript or web code:

  1. Run biome_check(changed_only=true).
  2. Run biome_format(changed_only=true).
  3. Fix the reported files and rerun the affected check.

Use biome_lint(level="all", changed_only=true) when informational diagnostics are relevant. Always inspect the returned exit_code.

Target Selection

  • Omit paths to check the whole project.
  • Pass files, directories, or glob patterns such as paths=["src/**/*.ts"].
  • Use changed_only=true for staged, unstaged, and untracked web files in the current Git repository. It takes precedence over paths.
  • When no modified web files exist, a changed-only check succeeds with No modified web files found.

Documentation

Use search_documentation for Biome CLI, configuration, and JavaScript linter questions. Read the returned biome:docs:// resources for detailed content.

Files

What ships with it

3 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
