evo-d3-stock-viz

evo-d3-stock-viz is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Zhang-Henry/CoEvoSkills. It costs 64 tokens per session (692 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A single-page D3.js version 6 web app that displays stock-market data as a bubble chart and table. Bubbles are grouped and colored by sector, sized by market capitalization, and linked to rows in the table.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to explore stocks by sector, compare companies by market cap, inspect ticker and company details in tooltips, and generate a ready-to-open visualization from CSV data.
Why use it?
It turns a stock list into a visual comparison while keeping exact values and company details available in the table. Selecting a bubble or row highlights the matching item.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00064 $0.00692
Opus 5 $0.00032 $0.00346
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00138
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00069

Security

Grade A, and why

evo-d3-stock-viz scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 13d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/generate_app.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

D3.js Stock Visualization Skill

Generates a complete single-page web app with:

  • Bubble chart: Force-simulated, clustered by sector, sized by market cap (sqrt scale), colored by sector, with legends and ticker labels
  • Data table: All stocks with Ticker, Name, Sector, Market Cap (human-readable format)
  • Coordination: Click a bubble to highlight its table row and vice versa
  • Tooltips: Hover shows ticker, name, sector (suppressed for ETFs)

Quick Start

import sys
sys.path.insert(0, '/app/environment/skills/evo-d3-stock-viz/scripts')
from generate_app import generate_stock_viz_app, validate_app

# Generate the complete web app
generate_stock_viz_app(
    input_data_dir='/root/data',
    output_dir='/root/output'
)

# Validate all required files exist
assert validate_app('/root/output'), "Validation failed"

Architecture

Output Structure

output/
  index.html              # Entry point
  js/d3.v6.min.js         # D3 v6 library (local copy)
  js/visualization.js     # All viz logic
  css/style.css # Layout, tooltip, table, highlight styles
  data/                   # Copied input data
    stock-descriptions.csv
    indiv-stock/*.csv

Key Design Decisions

  1. Bubble sizing: Uses d3.scaleSqrt() for area-proportional encoding. ETFs get uniform radius since they lack marketCap.
  2. Sector clustering: Uses forceX/forceY with per-sector target positions arranged in a circle. forceCollide prevents overlap.
  3. Market cap formatting: Custom function using T/B/M/K suffixes (e.g., "1.64T").
  4. ETF handling: No tooltip shown on hover. Market cap displays as "N/A".
  5. Labels: Ticker text inside each bubble, font-size scaled to bubble radius.
  6. Coordination: Single selectStock(ticker) function toggles .selected on bubbles and .highlighted on table rows.
  7. Layout: CSS flexbox for side-by-side arrangement. Table container has overflow-y: auto for scrolling.

Scripts

  • scripts/generate_app.py — Contains all generation functions:
    • generate_stock_viz_app(input_data_dir, output_dir) — End-to-end entry point
    • validate_app(output_dir) — Validates output structure
    • ensure_d3_library(output_dir) — Gets D3.js from npm if needed
    • copy_data(input_data_dir, output_dir) — Copies CSV data
    • write_css(output_dir) — Generates style.css
    • write_visualization_js(output_dir) — Generates visualization.js
    • write_index_html(output_dir) — Generates index.html

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
