evo-spring-boot-migration

evo-spring-boot-migration is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Zhang-Henry/CoEvoSkills. It costs 74 tokens per session (431 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A migration workflow for moving a Spring Boot 2.7 and Java 8 microservice to Spring Boot 3.2 and Java 21. It updates dependencies and rewrites code for newer Jakarta, security, HTTP-client, and Hibernate APIs.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to update a Maven project, replace javax namespaces with jakarta, modernize Spring Security configuration, change RestTemplate to RestClient, and adjust properties.
Why use it?
It removes much of the repetitive compatibility work involved in a major framework and Java upgrade.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00074 $0.00431
Opus 5 $0.00037 $0.00216
Sonnet 5 $0.00015 $0.00086
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00043

Security

Grade A, and why

evo-spring-boot-migration scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 6 executable files (scripts/migrate_namespaces.py, scripts/migrate_pom.py, scripts/migrate_properties.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Spring Boot 2.7 → 3.2 Migration Skill

Overview

This skill migrates a Spring Boot 2.7.x / Java 8 microservice to Spring Boot 3.2.x / Java 21.

Migration Steps

  1. pom.xml: Update parent to Spring Boot 3.2.5, Java 21, replace jjwt with jjwt-api/impl/jackson 0.12.5, remove javax.xml.bind
  2. Namespaces: javax.persistence/validation/servlet → jakarta.*
  3. Security: WebSecurityConfigurerAdapter → SecurityFilterChain bean, EnableGlobalMethodSecurity → EnableMethodSecurity, antMatchers → requestMatchers, authorizeRequests → authorizeHttpRequests, lambda DSL
  4. HTTP Client: RestTemplate → RestClient
  5. Properties: Remove explicit Hibernate dialect (Hibernate 6 auto-detects)

Usage

import sys
sys.path.insert(0, '/app/environment/skills/evo-spring-boot-migration/scripts')
from run_migration import run_full_migration

run_full_migration('/workspace')

Individual Scripts

  • migrate_pom.py - Updates pom.xml dependencies and versions
  • migrate_namespaces.py - Replaces javax.* with jakarta.* in all Java files
  • migrate_security.py - Rewrites SecurityConfig for Spring Security 6
  • migrate_resttemplate.py - Rewrites ExternalApiService to use RestClient
  • migrate_properties.py - Updates application.properties for Hibernate 6
  • run_migration.py - End-to-end entry point that calls all of the above
Files

What ships with it

6 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
