database

A set of commands for creating, listing, describing, and deleting databases in Milvus, a system for storing and searching large collections of data. Some commands require a Dedicated cluster.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for managing Milvus databases from the command line, switching database context, and checking which operations are supported by the cluster type.
Why use it?
It provides the exact database-management commands and notes important limits, including that deleting a database also deletes its collections.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00021 $0.00288
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00144
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00058
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00029

Measured 2d ago against content hash 70d25f88bd02, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

database scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Prerequisites

  1. CLI installed, logged in, and cluster context set (see setup skill).

Commands Reference

Create a Database

zilliz database create --name <database-name>
# Or use raw JSON: --body '{"properties": {}}'

Create a new database. (Dedicated only)

List Databases

zilliz database list

Describe a Database

zilliz database describe --name <database-name>

Get details of a database. (Dedicated only)

Drop a Database

zilliz database drop --name <database-name-to-drop>

Drop a database. (Dedicated only)

Guidance

  • Database create, describe, and drop operations are only available on Dedicated clusters. database list works on all cluster types.
  • Every cluster has a "default" database.
  • Before dropping a database, confirm with the user -- all collections in it will be deleted.
  • After creating a database, suggest switching context: zilliz context set --database <db-name>.
  • To work with collections in a non-default database, use --database flag on collection commands or switch context.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

database is a skill published in the GitHub repository zilliztech/zilliz-plugin (3 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 21 tokens to every session and 288 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
