clarion-setup

clarion-setup is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from zocomputer/skills. It costs 207 tokens per session (4,388 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A one-time installer for the Clarion Intelligence System, a set of tools for researching and monitoring investments on Zo Computer.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to install the system, create its workspace, register the service, configure SEC identification and an API key, and verify that the setup is running.
Why use it?
It sets up the required code, library, folders, service, and related Clarion tools so they can be used together.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00207 $0.04388
Opus 5 $0.00103 $0.02194
Sonnet 5 $0.00041 $0.00878
Haiku 4.5 $0.00021 $0.00439

Measured 5d ago against content hash 11afc8b1ada3, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

clarion-setup scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/setup.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Clarion Setup

Bootstraps the Clarion Intelligence System on a Zo workspace. Run this once before any other clarion-* skill.

Flow at a glance

This skill is designed for a single-prompt install experience that delivers the working system (library, skills, service) fast — typically ~30 seconds of autonomous work plus the user's time creating the ZO_API_KEY secret. Steps 1–3 run autonomously (clone, library, data tree, register service). Step 4 is one batched human checkpoint — the user supplies their SEC EDGAR identification and creates the ZO_API_KEY secret in Zo Settings. Steps 5–7 resume autonomously to apply the user's input, restart the service, verify it's running, and report.

Personas and routing rules are NOT installed by this skill. They're the chat-layer discipline (regime-first framing, kill-condition enforcement, persona handoff between Macro Sentinel → Analyst → Thesis Architect → Portfolio Manager). The bare install delivers everything needed to evaluate a stock from chat; persona routing is opt-in via a follow-up prompt described in Step 7 — typically a separate ~3-minute step the user takes after they've tried a few queries.

Walk through the steps below in order. Stop and surface any failure to the user immediately — do not proceed past a failure.

Step 1 — Clone or update the source repo

The repo holds the Python library, the sec-indexer service code, and templates.

If /home/workspace/clarion-intelligence-system does NOT exist:

git clone https://github.com/jingerzz/clarion-intelligence-system.git /home/workspace/clarion-intelligence-system

(The repo is public — no GitHub authentication needed.)

If it exists, update it:

git -C /home/workspace/clarion-intelligence-system pull --ff-only

Step 2 — Run the setup script

python /home/workspace/clarion-intelligence-system/skills/clarion-setup/scripts/setup.py

The script is idempotent. It will:

  • Install the ai_buffett_zo library editable (auto-detects whether to use --system)
  • Create the ~/clarion/{data/equities,sec,queue,theses,watchlists,letters}/ data tree
  • Write a default ~/clarion/config.json if missing (preserves any existing config — including any sec_user_agent you already customized)
  • Verify the sec-indexer console script is on PATH
  • Install every sibling clarion-* skill from the repo into /home/workspace/Skills/ (refreshes any already-installed copies; pass --skip-skills to opt out)
  • Print service registration parameters between --- BEGIN SERVICE_REGISTRATION --- and --- END SERVICE_REGISTRATION ---
  • Print a USER_ACTION_REQUIRED block (you'll surface this in Step 4)
  • Print a final SETUP_RESULT: ok line on success, or SETUP_RESULT: error: <reason> on failure

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

clarion-setup is a skill published in the GitHub repository zocomputer/skills (45 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 207 tokens to every session and 4,388 once invoked, about $0.0010 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
