Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Not installable: its command points at a path on the author’s own machine, so it runs nowhere else. The line is /home/claude/FILENAME.png.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00136 $0.00901
Opus 5 $0.00068 $0.00451
Sonnet 5 $0.00027 $0.00180
Haiku 4.5 $0.00014 $0.00090

Security

Grade A, and why

zyte-screenshots scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Capture full-page screenshots of any public URL via the Zyte API using curl, save as a PNG file,

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 116 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Zyte Screenshots Skill

Capture full-page screenshots of any public URL via the Zyte API using curl, save as a PNG file, and briefly describe the visual content.

Prerequisites

  • curl installed (standard on macOS/Linux)
  • jq installed
  • base64 CLI available
  • ZYTE_API_KEY set in the environment

Workflow

Step 1 — Validate inputs

  1. Confirm the user has provided a valid URL (must start with http:// or https://).
  2. Check for ZYTE_API_KEY in the environment:
    echo $ZYTE_API_KEY

    If empty or unset, stop and tell the user to export it before continuing:
    export ZYTE_API_KEY="your_api_key_here"

Step 2 — Derive the output filename

The filename must be the website name with https:// and .com removed. Strip exactly as follows:

  • Remove https:// or http://
  • Remove www. prefix if present
  • Remove .com (and anything after it)
  • Replace any remaining dots or slashes with underscores

Examples:

URL Filename
https://www.example.com example.png
https://quotes.toscrape.com quotes.toscrape.png
https://news.ycombinator.com news.ycombinator.png

Step 3 — Run the curl command

Run this exact command, substituting $ZYTE_API_KEY, the target URL, and the derived filename:

curl -s https://api.zyte.com/v1/extract \
  -u "$ZYTE_API_KEY": \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "url": "URL",
    "screenshot": true
  }' \
| jq -r '.screenshot' \
| base64 --decode > FILENAME.png

After running, verify the file was created and is non-empty:

[ -s "FILENAME.png" ] && echo "Success" || echo "Failed"

Common errors:

Error Cause Fix
401 Unauthorized Wrong or missing API key Check ZYTE_API_KEY value
jq outputs null API returned an error Print raw response to debug
Empty file base64 received no input Check API response

To debug, first print the raw API response:

curl -s https://api.zyte.com/v1/extract \
  -u "$ZYTE_API_KEY": \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"url": "URL", "screenshot": true}'

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
