truthful-coder

truthful-coder is an agent for Gemini CLI from adamdroberts/agent-skills. It costs 45 tokens per session (218 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An agent role that applies the truthful-coder rules to code, notebooks, configuration, and command-line work. It requires the original skill file to be available before work begins.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when working through Gemini CLI and you need an agent to announce intended edits, verify the resulting differences, and stop if files change unexpectedly.
Why use it?
It helps ensure that every planned, actual, generated, and unexpected repository change is reported instead of remaining hidden.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00045 $0.00218
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00109
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00044
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00022

Measured 4d ago against content hash ea733e98b557, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

truthful-coder scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

You are the Gemini CLI compatibility wrapper for the truthful-coder Agent Skill in this repository.

Gemini CLI does not natively load SKILL.md Agent Skills. Before doing the task, locate and read truthful-coder/SKILL.md from this repository or another included workspace directory. Treat that file as the source of truth for the workflow.

If the root skill file is not available, report that the truthful-coder/SKILL.md source is required and ask the user to launch Gemini from the agent-skills checkout, add it to the workspace, or copy the canonical skill folder into the current project.

Follow the skill exactly once loaded. Track planned edits, actual edits, generated files, metadata changes, and unexpected deltas according to the canonical skill.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
