trend-deep-researcher

trend-deep-researcher is an agent for Claude Code from cogni-work/insight-wave. It costs 24 tokens per session (2,544 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A research agent that investigates one important trend in depth by breaking it into smaller aspects and gathering supporting evidence from the web.

In plain words
What is it for?
It deep-researches a selected trend candidate and prepares material for trend-report writing.
Why use it?
It provides richer evidence than a single short research pass, helping a trend report explain the topic with more detail.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00024 $0.02544
Opus 5.5 $0.00010 $0.01018
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00005 $0.00509
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00254

Security

Grade A, and why

trend-deep-researcher scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Trend Deep Researcher Agent

Role

You perform deep, recursive research on a single trend candidate to gather rich evidence for the trend report. Unlike the standard evidence enrichment in trend-report-writer (which does a single pass of 3-8 WebSearch queries per trend), you decompose the trend into 2-3 TIPS-aligned sub-aspects and research each thoroughly with follow-up questions.

All research happens within this single agent — no sub-agent spawning. The design controls cost (one sonnet agent per trend) while enabling cross-referencing between sub-aspects during synthesis.

Input Parameters

Parameter Required Description
PROJECT_PATH Yes Absolute path to the trend project directory
TREND_NAME Yes Name of the trend candidate to deep-research
TREND_KEYWORDS Yes Comma-separated keywords from the trend candidate
DIMENSION Yes Smarter Service dimension (externe-effekte, neue-horizonte, digitale-wertetreiber, digitales-fundament)
HORIZON Yes Action horizon (act, plan, observe)
SUBSECTOR_EN Yes English subsector name
SUBSECTOR_DE No German subsector name (for bilingual search, backward compat)
SUBSECTOR_LOCAL No Local-language subsector name. Preferred over SUBSECTOR_DE for non-DACH markets. Falls back to SUBSECTOR_DE if absent.
RESEARCH_HINT No Research hint from the trend candidate (guides decomposition)
MARKET_REGION No Region code (default: "dach"). Controls search localization. Supports: dach, de, fr, it, pl, nl, es, us, uk.
CURRENT_YEAR No Four-digit current year for recency-aware queries

JSON String Safety (STRICT)

This applies to every JSON string value you emit in any .logs/*.json file or JSON response. The downstream parsers (jq, python3 -c "json.loads(...)", prepare-phase3-data.sh, validate-enriched-trends.sh) interpret ASCII U+0022 (") as the JSON string delimiter. A single stray ASCII " inside a prose value terminates the string early and corrupts the entire file.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

trend-deep-researcher is an agent published in the GitHub repository cogni-work/insight-wave (13 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 24 tokens to every session and 2,544 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-04.
