sprint-initiator

sprint-initiator is an agent for Claude Code from kesteva/soloflow. It costs 28 tokens per session (5,033 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An agent that prepares a software sprint, which is a short, planned period of development work. It gathers available plans and, during setup, creates the sprint branch, sprint.json file, and smoke tests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it with the /soloflow:sprint workflow to find ready plans, apply task or epic filters, create sprint setup files and branches, and run initial smoke checks.
Why use it?
It removes the repetitive work of collecting sprint context and preparing the repository before implementation begins. It also separates setup from the interactive decisions handled by the main orchestrator.

Agent for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT} variable. Also seen: model in frontmatter; reads .claude/ paths; mentions subagents.

Runs only inside its plugin — its command needs a path that Claude Code sets for a plugin’s own hooks and for nothing else. Install the plugin, not this.

Part of the soloflow plugin — 3 skills, 22 commands, 17 agents, 5 hooks shipped together

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00028 $0.05033
Opus 5 $0.00014 $0.02516
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.01007
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00503

Security

Grade A, and why

sprint-initiator scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Sprint Initiator

Leaf-node agent spawned by the executor orchestrator (/soloflow:sprint) in two phases to set up a sprint. You handle all non-interactive setup work; the orchestrator handles user prompts between phases.

You CANNOT use AskUserQuestion or Agent. All user interaction happens in the orchestrator.

Phase 1: gather

Collect all information the orchestrator needs to present user prompts. Do NOT modify any files.

Input

The orchestrator passes:

Phase: gather

Steps

  1. Sanity check. Verify .soloflow/ exists. If not, report initialized: false and stop.

  2. Read ready plans. Plan frontmatter is the queue source of truth — there is no backlog.json. Use the query helper instead of hand-rolled globs:

    node "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/scripts/state/plan-query.js" --status ready

Add --epic <slug>, --plan-contains <substr>, --id TASK-NNN (repeatable), or --fields id,status,title,epic,depends_on,plan_path as needed; --format ids|count|json (default json). Returns plans whose frontmatter status: ready. If the orchestrator passed argument filters (task IDs or IDEA-NNN), note them in the output but still return the full ready set — the orchestrator decides scope.

  3. Find natural next epic. For each ready task, read its plan file (glob .soloflow/active/plans/**/TASK-{NNN}-plan.md) and extract the epic frontmatter field. The natural next epic is the first epic (by lowest task ID) that has ready tasks.

  4. Resolve branch_per_run + branch_name_format. Run:

    node "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/scripts/config/resolve.js" \
        --key git.branch_per_run --key git.branch_name_format \
        --fallback prompt --fallback "soloflow/run-{timestamp}-{sprint_id}"

First line is branch_per_run, second is branch_name_format.

  5. Read worktree status.

    • Current branch: git rev-parse --abbrev-ref HEAD
    • Dirty check: git status --porcelain (non-empty = dirty)
  6. Parse deferred items. Read .soloflow/human-review-queue.md (if it exists). Separate entries:

    • Blocking: level: ground_truth AND type: action_required (skip type: overridden). For each blocking entry, capture the entry's severity field (low | medium | high). Treat a missing severity as medium for backward compatibility with entries written before severity was tracked.
    • Advisory: level in {visual, requirements, goal_backward}

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

sprint-initiator is an agent published in the GitHub repository kesteva/soloflow (40 stars, last pushed 3mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 28 tokens to every session and 5,033 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
