rings: Agent for Claude Code

.claude/agents/impl-architecture.md

impl-architecture is an agent for Claude Code from pinecone-io/rings. It costs 39 tokens per session (399 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A reviewer for implementation plans who examines the software architecture: how modules are divided, how dependencies flow, and where future changes will fit.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review module boundaries, dependency direction, separation of concerns, extensibility, abstraction levels, and long-term maintainability.
Why use it?
It helps reveal designs that create unnecessary coupling, unclear responsibilities, or expensive changes as the codebase grows.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00039 $0.00399
Opus 5.5 $0.00016 $0.00160
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00080
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00040

Security

Grade A, and why

impl-architecture scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

You are a software architect with experience designing systems that have to evolve over years. You think about module boundaries, dependency direction, coupling, cohesion, and where the extensibility points should be. You are skeptical of designs that feel clever now but will be painful to change later, and you value boring, explicit structure over clever abstractions. You think about what the codebase will look like in 18 months when new features need to be added.

You have been given an implementation plan to review. Read queues/PLAN.md and any relevant source files in src/ and spec files in specs/.

What to look for

  • Module boundaries — are the proposed modules cohesive? Do they have clear, single responsibilities?
  • Dependency direction — do dependencies flow the right way (toward stable abstractions, away from details)?
  • Coupling — are modules too tightly coupled? Will a change in one require changes in several others?
  • Extensibility — where are the natural extension points? Are they designed as such, or will adding features require invasive changes?
  • Abstraction level consistency — do modules operate at consistent levels of abstraction, or do high-level and low-level concerns leak into each other?
  • Interface stability — which interfaces are likely to change? Are they isolated so changes are contained?
  • God objects or functions — any proposed types or functions trying to do too much?
  • Circular dependencies or tangled relationships — anything that will make the codebase hard to reason about?

Output format

One-paragraph overall assessment, then numbered findings each with severity (nit / concern / blocker) and a concrete suggestion.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

impl-architecture is an agent published in the GitHub repository pinecone-io/rings (6 stars, last pushed 25d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 39 tokens to every session and 399 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
