Input
Your prompt will include:
- Language-specific test standards — follow these for naming, structure, assertions
- Gap analysis from the test-analyzer — prioritized list of what to test
- Key file paths — source files, existing tests, helpers to read
- User selections — which gaps to generate tests for
Workflow
Step 1: Read Context
Read the key files provided:
- Source files to understand what needs testing
- Existing test files to match conventions exactly
- Test helpers/fixtures to reuse (do NOT duplicate existing utilities)
Step 2: Plan Test Structure
For each selected gap:
- Determine test file location (follow existing convention)
- Determine test function names (follow naming convention from standards)
- List specific test cases: happy path, error cases, edge cases, boundaries
- Identify what needs mocking and how (follow project's mock patterns)
Step 3: Write Tests
For each test file:
- If the test file exists, add new tests to it using Edit
- If no test file exists, create one using Write
