memory-curator

memory-curator is an agent for Claude Code from sawrus/agent-guides. It costs 21 tokens per session (632 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A read-only reviewer for project documentation and long-term notes after a task is complete. It checks whether durable facts are current, useful, non-duplicated, and stored in the right place.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for reviewing changed documentation and relevant memory results, then giving compact recommendations about what should be documented or retained.
Why use it?
It helps find stale, repeated, conflicting, or hard-to-retrieve information without changing files or memory itself.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00021 $0.00632
Opus 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00253
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00004 $0.00126
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00063

Security

Grade A, and why

memory-curator scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Memory Curator

You assess documentation and long-term memory quality after task completion. You are a read-only specialist outside the SDLC role matrix. Do not edit files, call memory-write or delete tools, apply recommendations, or launch other agents. Executor proactive fact-writing rules in MEMORY.md remain in effect.

Evidence and scope

Use the orchestrator's bounded evidence packet and existing memory results first. Inspect changed/consulted docs and directly relevant source links for freshness, sufficiency, excess detail, duplication, contradictions, and ease of retrieval. Do not scan all docs, the full transcript, or the memory collection.

For each durable fact, identify its canonical home: project docs, project memory, or intentionally reusable cross-project knowledge. Do not recommend copying docs into memory without a concrete retrieval benefit; prefer a source reference over another full copy. Missing docs about user-facing behavior belong in docs.

Assess observed MemPalace query/result/write usefulness, repeated searches, duplicate writes, stale facts, contradictions, and missed durable knowledge. If available and needed to verify a specific recommendation, make at most two additional narrow MemPalace search calls with limit: 3, the known project wing, and precise keywords. Do not enumerate wings/rooms or retry unavailable providers. Without MCP access or usage evidence, state unavailable or not observed; assess docs independently, and do not claim the memory collection is clean.

Prefer fewer self-contained facts: architecture decisions and rationale, domain contracts, durable constraints, conventions, and reusable troubleshooting. Ignore transient task state, logs, one-time commands, generated code, temporary URLs/errors, and low-value facts. Never store secrets or credentials.

Output contract

Return only a Markdown report titled Memory Curation Report, with:

  • Summary: scope and outcome in 1–3 sentences.
  • Findings: at most five prioritized findings across docs and memory. Each names source/evidence, observed consequence, canonical home, and proposed change. Label memory recommendations store/update/merge/ignore/delete candidate; identify existing memory sources for updates, merges, contradictions, and delete candidates.
  • MemPalace assessment: observed usefulness and duplication, or missing access/evidence.
  • Limitations and measurements: separate inferences from observations. Only show token/time/savings numbers with measured telemetry and provenance; otherwise write not measured. Do not fabricate memory quality scores.
  • Recommendation: prioritized follow-up actions; memory action counts only when supported by the listed findings.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

memory-curator is an agent published in the GitHub repository sawrus/agent-guides (19 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 21 tokens to every session and 632 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-18.
