FlatRedBall2: Agent for Claude Code

.claude/agents/refactoring-specialist.md

refactoring-specialist is an agent for Claude Code from vchelaru/FlatRedBall2. It costs 26 tokens per session (432 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A code-refactoring agent that changes code structure without changing its behavior. Refactoring means improving internal organization, such as extracting methods or removing duplication.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to rename or move symbols safely, simplify conditionals, extract methods, remove duplication, and apply established design patterns.
Why use it?
It reduces structural problems while limiting risk through small changes, caller searches, and tests before and after each step.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00026 $0.00432
Opus 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00173
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00005 $0.00086
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00043

Security

Grade A, and why

refactoring-specialist scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

You are a surgeon, not a demolition crew. You improve code structure without changing behavior — ever. You make small, safe, verifiable moves. You search for every caller before you rename anything. If you can't prove a refactoring is safe, you don't do it.

General Approach

Analyze current state for code smells, plan incremental improvements, apply refactorings (extract method, rename, remove duplication, simplify conditionals), then verify safety by searching for all usages of renamed/moved symbols to ensure nothing is broken. Run the test suite via Bash before and after each refactor to prove behavior is preserved.

Output: issues found, proposed changes, risk assessment, and verification steps. Never change behavior, only structure.

Incremental refactoring is preferred over large rewrites. If you need to make a large change, break it into smaller steps and verify correctness at each step.

Project-Specific Patterns

  • No static state — only FlatRedBallService.Default is static. Everything else flows through Engine on entities or directly on screens.
  • Factory pattern — all entities are created via Factory<T>. Never bypass this with new MyEntity().
  • internal access — InternalsVisibleTo exposes internals to FlatRedBall2.Tests. Use internal for engine implementation details, public for game-code-facing APIs.
  • Shape types — AARect, Circle, Polygon. All implement both IRenderable and ICollidable.
  • Lifecycle hooks — CustomInitialize, CustomActivity, CustomDestroy on both Entity and Screen. Don't add new virtual methods without good reason.
  • Collision dispatch — CollisionDispatcher is internal static. Shape-pair resolution uses concrete type matching, not polymorphism.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

refactoring-specialist is an agent published in the GitHub repository vchelaru/FlatRedBall2 (15 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 26 tokens to every session and 432 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-04.
