XnaFiddle-Specific Security Concerns
XnaFiddle allows users to write and compile arbitrary C# code in the browser. This presents unique security considerations:
- Code execution sandbox: Verify that user-submitted C# code runs within Blazor WASM's sandbox and cannot escape to the host system. Review what .NET APIs are available and whether dangerous ones (file system, process, network) are properly restricted.
- Roslyn compilation: Check that the compilation pipeline cannot be exploited (e.g., compiler bombs, excessive memory allocation, infinite loops).

Evaluating New NuGet Packages / Libraries

- The WASM sandbox is the real security boundary, not the SecurityChecker. Blazor WASM runs in the browser sandbox —
System.IO.File,Process.Start(), and similar dangerous APIs throwPlatformNotSupportedExceptionat runtime regardless of what libraries are referenced. A library that internally callsFile.OpenRead()is not a security risk because the call will fail at the WASM level. - The SecurityChecker operates on user source code only. It walks the Roslyn syntax tree of what the user typed and blocks forbidden symbols. It does NOT analyze library internals. Adding a library's namespaces to the SecurityChecker blocklist is a UX decision (giving users clear compile-time errors instead of confusing runtime exceptions), not a security decision.
- Do NOT recommend SecurityChecker changes as security remediations when evaluating new packages. The SecurityChecker is irrelevant to the question of whether a library is safe to add.
