claude-sdk-rs: Command for Claude Code

.claude/commands/log-work.md

log-work is a command for Claude Code from bredmond1019/claude-sdk-rs. It costs 0 tokens per session (2,801 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A command for recording completed work, updating project status, and regenerating derived status summaries from the repository's configuration. It accepts an optional explanation or can build one from the task and Git history.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it after doing work to append a log entry, update status, and regenerate the project's freshness and progress records.
Why use it?
It keeps the work log and status files aligned with the actual repository state, including projects nested at different directory levels. This avoids stale paths and manually maintained summaries.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.02801
Opus 5.5 $0.00000 $0.01120
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00560
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00280

Security

Grade A, and why

log-work scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 168 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Log Work — Append a Log entry, sync status, and regenerate the freshness spine via mev emit-state.

This command is brain.toml-driven and depth-agnostic. It works unchanged whether this repo lives at the brain root, inside a tier sub-brain (core/, portfolio/, side/, client/), or standalone outside any brain — it resolves everything from the manifest at runtime. There are no baked ../ paths and no {{SLUG}} token; if you find either, it is a stale copy.

Variables

$ARGUMENTS — optional free-text explanation of what was done. May be brief or detailed. If provided, it is the primary narrative for the Log entry — do not discard or summarise it down. If omitted, derive the narrative from git history and the task spec.

Execution Model

Run entirely inline. Spawn no subagent. This command authors state (flips closed-block status, appends the Log entry, surgically updates status.md, offers to record a decision) and then shells out to mev emit-state --write, which is what actually regenerates the freshness spine (the watermarked caches + generated rollups that mev validate-brain --sync checks) — so favour accuracy over speed in the authored parts. A subagent cold-starts and has to reconstruct this session's narrative from git log alone; the main agent already holds the session context needed for an accurate log.md entry, and a round trip through a subagent adds latency without adding value here.

Instructions

Step 0 — Resolve the manifest (this is what replaced the baked paths)

  1. Find the brain root. From the current working directory, walk up parent by parent looking for a brain.toml file (its first line begins # brain.toml). The directory containing it is BRAIN_ROOT.
    • If no brain.toml is found, this is a standalone repo. Skip the brain-sync Step 3 (mev emit-state --write has nothing to resolve without a brain.toml): do only Steps 1–2 (local log.md + planning/status.md), then go to Step 4 and say so in the report.
  2. Identify this repo in the manifest. Compute this repo's path relative to BRAIN_ROOT (. if you are at the root). Read brain.toml and find the [[repos]] entry whose repo_path equals that relative path. From it read: slug, tier, status_file, cache_doc, heading.
    • If no entry matches (a repo not yet registered), STOP and report it — do not guess a cache path. (Registering a new repo is /new-project / /generate-sub-brain's job.)
    • All status_file / cache_doc paths in the manifest are relative to BRAIN_ROOT — resolve them against BRAIN_ROOT, never against the current directory.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
