claude-sdk-rs: Command for Claude Code

.claude/commands/update-docs.md

update-docs is a command for Claude Code from bredmond1019/claude-sdk-rs. It costs 0 tokens per session (1,939 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A documentation maintenance command that compares project docs with the current code and recent Git history. It reports outdated sections, missing documentation, and sections that still match the code, with options to apply fixes or create missing docs.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for periodic documentation checks, updating clearly stale sections, and creating missing project or user-facing docs.
Why use it?
It removes the need to manually search for documentation that no longer matches the software. It also helps identify undocumented capabilities, especially after starting a new project or making large changes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.01939
Opus 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00776
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00388
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00194

Measured 11d ago against content hash e1571271dc70, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

update-docs scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Update Docs — Documentation health sweep: find stale sections and create missing coverage.

Audits the entire documentation set against the current codebase and recent git history. Produces a structured gap report (stale sections, missing coverage, confirmed-current). Optionally fixes STALE sections and creates MISSING docs with --patch, or skips the audit and creates all missing docs from scratch with --bootstrap.

This is the ad-hoc maintenance counterpart to /document (which gates on sdlc/state.json's recorded review.verdict being PASS, not a prose report — see /document's Record section). Use /update-docs for periodic doc health checks and bootstrapping outside the SDLC pipeline; use /document inside it.

Variables

$ARGUMENTS — optional flags:

  • --patch — after the audit, (1) apply surgical fixes for clear-cut STALE sections, and (2) create new docs for MISSING capabilities flagged by the audit. Conservative: only creates user-facing docs the audit confidently identifies.
  • --bootstrap — skip the audit; create all missing project docs from scratch based on the current codebase state. Use on new projects or after large blocks with no prior doc coverage. Reads source, creates files, updates docs/index.md.
  • --since <ref> — limit git history to commits after this ref (default: last 20 commits)
  • A bare git ref/range (e.g. HEAD~10, main..HEAD) also sets the history window

Instructions

Phase 1 — Git history snapshot

  1. Run git log --oneline -20 (or --since <ref> if provided) to understand what changed recently.
  2. Run git diff HEAD~10 --stat (or the specified range) to see which source files shifted.
  3. Note any new commands, engine flags, schema fields, or decision records added since the last doc update. These are the primary staleness signals.

Phase 2 — Codebase inventory

Sweep the source of truth for each documentation area. For each area, note: what exists now vs. what the docs claim.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
