EXPORT-DEV-APK

A command that builds and installs a standalone Android application package (APK) containing its JavaScript code. The resulting release build can run without a USB connection, Metro bundler, or development server.

In plain words
What is it for?
Building a release APK, installing it on an Android device through USB or manually, and launching the installed app.
Why use it?
It removes the need to keep a development server running when testing the app. It also distinguishes offline release builds from debug builds that require Metro.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00000 $0.01348
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00674
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00270
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00135

Security

Grade A, and why

EXPORT-DEV-APK scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Export Dev Mobile App (Android APK)

Description

Build and install a standalone Android APK with embedded JavaScript bundle. This creates a release build that works completely offline - no USB connection, no Metro bundler, no dev server required.

Important: This is different from a debug build (assembleDebug), which requires Metro to run. Use assembleRelease for standalone APKs.

Prerequisites

  • Android SDK / adb available (brew install android-platform-tools if missing)
  • A physical device connected via USB with USB debugging enabled, or manual install capability

Quick Start - Standalone APK

Build release APK with embedded bundle

cd <android app location> && ./gradlew assembleRelease

Output: <android app location>/app/build/outputs/apk/release/app-release.apk

This builds a release APK with JavaScript bundle embedded (no Metro required).

Install via USB

adb install -r <android app location>/app/build/outputs/apk/release/app-release.apk

Launch the app

adb shell monkey -p com.dnnypck.<app-name> -c android.intent.category.LAUNCHER 1

Or launch manually from your app drawer.

Install manually (no USB)

  1. Copy the APK to your device:

    cp <android app location>/app/build/outputs/apk/release/app-release.apk ~/Downloads/<AppName>-dev.apk

  2. Transfer to your phone via:

    • Email
    • Google Drive / Dropbox
    • AirDrop / Nearby Share
  3. Open the APK on your device and install

  4. Launch from your app drawer - works completely offline!

One-Liner

Build, install, and launch:

cd <android app location> && \
  ./gradlew assembleRelease && \
  adb install -r app/build/outputs/apk/release/app-release.apk && \
  adb shell monkey -p com.dnnypck.<app-name> -c android.intent.category.LAUNCHER 1

Step-by-Step

1. Build the release APK

cd <android app location> && ./gradlew assembleRelease

This task automatically:

  • Bundles JavaScript using Metro (createBundleReleaseJsAndAssets)
  • Embeds the bundle into the APK
  • Builds a signed release APK

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

EXPORT-DEV-APK is a command published in the GitHub repository dep/agent-rules (11 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 1,348 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
