channels

A setup guide for choosing a channel adapter, which connects Claude Code to services such as WebSocket, Telegram, Discord, or Slack.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps configure Talon Channels for messaging platforms, local WebSocket clients, and other supported communication services.
Why use it?
It explains which channel to use and which settings or access tokens each service needs.

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00038 $0.02128
Opus 5 $0.00019 $0.01064
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00426
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00213

Measured 2d ago against content hash 46f1d148cfc0, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade C, and why

channels scanned grade C with 3 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Reads agent configuration directoriesmediumAgent snooping

.claude/, .codex/, .gemini/ hold keys, settings and other credentials a mod has no legitimate need for.

cat ~/.claude/channels/telegram/.env

Reads MCP configurationmediumAgent snooping

mcp.json carries server URLs and auth tokens; reading it lets a mod discover and abuse other integrations.

cat "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/../.mcp.json" 2>/dev/null || echo "No .mcp.json found"

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

Channel Adapter Setup Guide

Help the user choose and configure which channel adapter to use with the Talon Channels plugin. There are 22 options: the default WebSocket server plus 21 platform-specific adapters.

Development Mode

During the research preview, channels require the official allowlist. To use talon-channels:

claude --dangerously-load-development-channels plugin:channels@gettalon-talon-plugins

The plugin: prefix tells Claude Code to load this channel plugin and bypass the allowlist check.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

channels is a command published in the GitHub repository gettalon/talon-plugins (6 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 38 tokens to every session and 2,128 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it C with 3 findings (reads agent configuration directories, reads mcp configuration, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
