maid-runner-mcp: Command for Claude Code

.claude/commands/maid-run.md

maid-run is a command for Claude Code from mamertofabian/maid-runner-mcp. It costs 10 tokens per session (527 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command that runs the complete MAID workflow, from defining a goal to validating the finished code. MAID is a method that uses a written plan, behavior-focused tests, and implementation checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Breaking work into a manifest, designing tests, implementing the change, and running validation until the tests pass.
Why use it?
It organizes the planning and testing work so implementation starts with a clear scope and tests that initially fail.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00010 $0.00527
Opus 5 $0.00005 $0.00264
Sonnet 5 $0.00002 $0.00105
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00053

Security

Grade A, and why

maid-run scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Execute full MAID workflow for: $ARGUMENTS

This command orchestrates the complete MAID methodology from goal to validated, passing implementation.

Workflow Phases

Phase 1: Goal & Manifest Creation

Use the maid-manifest-architect subagent to:

  1. Analyze the goal and identify affected files
  2. Find next task number: ls manifests/task-*.manifest.json | tail -1
  3. Create manifest: manifests/task-XXX-description.manifest.json
  4. Validate structure: maid validate manifests/task-XXX.manifest.json --use-manifest-chain

Phase 2: Test Design

Use the maid-test-designer subagent to:

  1. Read manifest expectedArtifacts
  2. Create behavioral tests: tests/test_task_XXX_*.py
  3. Tests must USE artifacts AND ASSERT on behavior
  4. Validate behavioral: maid validate manifests/task-XXX.manifest.json --validation-mode behavioral --use-manifest-chain
  5. Verify Red phase: pytest tests/test_task_XXX_*.py -v (tests should FAIL)

Phase 3: Implementation

Use the maid-developer subagent to:

  1. Confirm Red phase (tests fail)
  2. Implement code to make tests pass
  3. Run tests until Green: pytest tests/test_task_XXX_*.py -v
  4. Validate implementation: maid validate manifests/task-XXX.manifest.json --use-manifest-chain

Phase 3.5: Refactoring (if needed)

Use the maid-refactorer subagent to:

  1. Improve code quality while tests pass
  2. Run tests after each change
  3. Keep public API unchanged

Phase 4: Final Integration

Run complete validation to ensure no regressions:

maid validate # Validate ALL manifests
maid test # Run ALL validation commands
make lint # Check code style
make type-check # Check type hints
make test # Run full test suite

Success Criteria

  • All behavioral tests pass
  • Implementation validation passes
  • No regressions in existing tests (maid test passes)
  • Code quality checks pass

Error Recovery

If validation fails at any phase, use the maid-fixer subagent to:

  1. Identify the specific error
  2. Fix one issue at a time
  3. Re-validate after each fix

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
