- Follows the project's coding standards better
- Is more performant
- Remove all conflict markers (<<<<<<<, =======, >>>>>>>)
- After resolving each file, verify the syntax is correct
- Run any relevant tests to ensure nothing is broken
- Stage the resolved files
- Provide a summary of all resolutions made
