review

review is a command for Claude Code from VasiHemanth/grok-build-plugin. It costs 17 tokens per session (262 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A command that sends uncommitted code changes, or changes from the current branch compared with another branch, to Grok for a read-only review. It can also run the review in the background.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review current changes, compare a branch with a base such as `main`, provide a specific review focus, or start and later inspect a background review.
Why use it?
It provides an additional review of code without allowing the reviewer to modify files.

Command for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: allowed-tools in frontmatter.

Runs only inside its plugin — its command needs a path that Claude Code sets for a plugin’s own hooks and for nothing else. Install the plugin, not this.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00017 $0.00262
Opus 5 $0.00009 $0.00131
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00052
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00026

Measured 6d ago against content hash c442b275ac5f, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

review scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Run a read-only code review with Grok. Grok will not modify any files.

Raw user request: $ARGUMENTS

Run:

node "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/scripts/grok-companion.mjs" review $ARGUMENTS

Rules:

  • Default target is uncommitted changes. --base <ref> reviews the current branch against that ref (e.g. --base main).
  • Any leftover text after the flags is forwarded as extra reviewer focus.
  • --background runs the review detached; report the job id and point the user at /grok:status and /grok:result. Otherwise run in the foreground.
  • This command is read-only. It does not change code.
  • Return the companion's stdout verbatim. Do not summarize or editorialize.
  • If the companion reports no changes, relay that. If it reports Grok is missing or not logged in, tell the user to run /grok:setup.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
