js2: Hook for Claude Code

.claude/settings.json

PreToolUse is a hook for Claude Code from loopdive/js2. Its token cost is not measured, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of checks that run before selected agent tool calls, such as shell commands, Git commits, merges, and agent starts.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to enforce repository workflow rules, block bypassed verification, check commit authors, validate merge steps, and protect Git operations.
Why use it?
It catches unsafe working-directory, commit, merge, push, and agent-start conditions before those actions proceed.

Hook for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: ${CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR variable.

This is loopdive/js2's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on js2 itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything js2 configures →

One of 9 entries in settings.json upstream. Installing this one merges just its entry into your config; the other 8 are separate, each on its own page.

Security

Grade A, and why

PreToolUse scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the commands this hook runs, not an audit. A hook is shell that executes on your machine at the event it names, which is why every command in it is printed with what was found.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
