coograph: Hook for Claude Code

.claude/settings.json

PreToolUse is a hook for Claude Code from paullukic/coograph. Its token cost is not measured, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of pre-tool hooks that run checks before an agent uses shell commands or edits files. Hooks are automatic scripts triggered by specified actions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add safeguards and logging before Bash, file-editing, writing, multi-edit, or notebook-edit operations.
Why use it?
It records shell commands, blocks generated-file edits, and warns when an edit may exceed the intended scope.

Hook for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: $CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR variable. Also seen: names the NotebookEdit tool.

This is paullukic/coograph's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on coograph itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything coograph configures →

One of 5 entries in settings.json upstream. Installing this one merges just its entry into your config; the other 4 are separate, each on its own page.

Security

Grade A, and why

PreToolUse scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the commands this hook runs, not an audit. A hook is shell that executes on your machine at the event it names, which is why every command in it is printed with what was found.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
