RuView: Hook for Claude Code

.claude/settings.json

SubagentStart is a hook for Claude Code from ruvnet/RuView. Its token cost is not measured, scanned A, original, MIT.

A hook that runs a Node.js command whenever a subagent starts. A subagent is a smaller agent process launched to handle part of a larger task.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to run a status check or other project-defined setup when a subagent begins work.
Why use it?
It gives the project a fixed place to react to new subagents starting, without relying on someone to trigger the command manually.

Hook for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: $CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR variable.

This is ruvnet/RuView's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on RuView itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything RuView configures →

One of 9 entries in settings.json upstream. Installing this one merges just its entry into your config; the other 8 are separate, each on its own page.

About the project

RuView is a WiFi sensing platform that uses disturbances in radio signals, captured by low-cost ESP32 sensors, to detect presence, movement, breathing, and heart rate without cameras or wearables. It is intended for spatial monitoring and smart-home integrations. The catalogue add-ons support workflows for operating and integrating RuView.

Security

Grade A, and why

SubagentStart scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the commands this hook runs, not an audit. A hook is shell that executes on your machine at the event it names, which is why every command in it is printed with what was found.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
