.claude/settings.json

SessionStart is a hook for Claude Code from StupidIncarnate/codex-of-consentient-craft. Its token cost is not measured, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of commands that runs automatically when a coding session begins. It loads guidance about finding code, folder types, editing practices, safety checks, discipline, and packages.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to provide session-start instructions for code searches, code changes, safety practices, and package-related work.
Why use it?
It gives the agent project-work guidance at the start of each session instead of relying on you to repeat it.

Hook for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: SessionStart hook event.

This is StupidIncarnate/codex-of-consentient-craft's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on codex-of-consentient-craft itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything codex-of-consentient-craft configures →

One of 7 entries in settings.json upstream. Installing this one merges just its entry into your config; the other 6 are separate, each on its own page.

Security

Grade A, and why

SessionStart scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the commands this hook runs, not an audit. A hook is shell that executes on your machine at the event it names, which is why every command in it is printed with what was found.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
