skills: Hook for Claude Code

.claude/settings.json

SessionStart is a hook for Claude Code from timharris707/skills. Its token cost is not measured, scanned A, original, MIT.

A session-start hook that checks for a `.claude/handoff.md` file and prints it when found. The note records where work stopped so a new session can continue from there.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps resume work across coding sessions by showing the previous handoff note and its next section.
Why use it?
It reduces the need to reconstruct unfinished work from memory. It also reminds the agent that the note is context, not permission to start work.

Hook for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: $CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR variable.

This is timharris707/skills's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on skills itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything skills configures →

One of 3 entries in settings.json upstream. Installing this one merges just its entry into your config; the other 2 are separate, each on its own page.

Security

Grade A, and why

SessionStart scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 19d ago.

A static scan of the commands this hook runs, not an audit. A hook is shell that executes on your machine at the event it names, which is why every command in it is printed with what was found.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

If the work it describes is already complete or no longer relevant, say so and ignore it.\\n\\n----

This page is one entry in a file that holds 3. Installing the file brings all of them; each is measured and scanned on its own page.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
