personal-os: Instructions file for Gemini CLI

GEMINI.md

personal-os GEMINI.md is an instructions file for Gemini CLI from jordantcarlisle/personal-os. It costs 274 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A Gemini CLI instruction file that adapts the Personal OS system for Google's command-line coding assistant. It points Gemini CLI to the main instructions and explains differences in commands, tools, and sub-agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when running Personal OS through Gemini CLI, including its slash commands, optional sub-agents, and platform-specific tool mappings.
Why use it?
It keeps Personal OS workflows usable when the assistant is Gemini CLI instead of Claude Code. It also explains how to interpret commands and agent references across the two setups.

Written for Gemini CLI: the file is GEMINI.md. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions subagents.

This is jordantcarlisle/personal-os's own configuration. It tells Gemini CLI how to work on personal-os itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything personal-os configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00274 $0.00274
Opus 5 $0.00137 $0.00137
Sonnet 5 $0.00055 $0.00055
Haiku 4.5 $0.00027 $0.00027

Security

Grade A, and why

personal-os GEMINI.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Personal OS — Gemini CLI Configuration

This file configures Gemini CLI to work with Personal OS. The canonical instructions are in CLAUDE.md — read that file for the full system prompt.

Platform Notes

You are running on Gemini CLI. Some capabilities work differently than the canonical Claude Code setup:

  • Sub-agents (experimental): If experimental.enableAgents is enabled in settings, sub-agents defined in .gemini/agents/ can be invoked with @agent-name. Otherwise, treat agent references as behavioral modes you switch between — read the agent definition from .claude/agents/ and adopt that persona sequentially.
  • Slash commands: The .claude/commands/ directory contains markdown command definitions. Read them directly when the user invokes a command (e.g., when they say /reflect, read .claude/commands/reflect.md and follow its instructions).
  • Tool names: See platform-adapters/gemini-cli/tool-mapping.md for the translation from Claude Code tool names to Gemini equivalents.

Instructions

Read and follow CLAUDE.md in this directory. It contains your full role, system structure, key files, agent behaviors, and workflows. Adapt tool names per the mapping table, and execute agent-like behaviors sequentially rather than in parallel.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
