This repository follows the cross-tool AGENTS.md standard. Read /AGENTS.md for the full guide: the script/CLI interface, the config workflow, and the operating rules.

The rules that matter most:

  • The platform split is hard. *.ps1 (Build-All.ps1, Build-WebGL.ps1, Deploy-GhPages.ps1, Tools/Steam/deploy.ps1) run on Windows PowerShell 5.1 only — not PowerShell 7, not bash. build_mac.sh and Tools/Steam/deploy_mac.sh run on macOS bash only, driven over SSH. Don't port one to the other's idioms.
  • PowerShell 5.1 string discipline is load-bearing. No non-ASCII characters (especially em-dashes) inside double-quoted .ps1 string literals — PS 5.1 reads them as CP-1252 and mis-parses. Use "${Var}:", never "$Var:".
  • Secrets never live in the repo. All credentials go in the gitignored Tools/Build/config.local.json; the Play JSON and Apple .p8 live outside the repo. Never log -cliKeystorePass, -cliKeyaliasPass, or keychainPassword.
  • The defensive scar tissue is documented production fixes, not boilerplate — the process-handle pin, Temp/UnityLockfile scrub, Clean-Dir <8-char guard, Burst-cache retry, Mac git reset --hard @{u}, and secret redaction. Read docs/TROUBLESHOOTING.md before removing one.
  • The WebGL -UnityMethod targets the CONSUMER's BuildCli.cs (e.g. SpriteBakerDemo.BuildTools.BuildCli.BuildWebGL); this repo's BuildCli.cs has no BuildWebGL.
  • This is not a UPM package or a CI pipeline — it is deliberately local. There is no package.json, .asmdef, or Unity project scaffolding beyond Assets/Editor/BuildCli.cs.
