spring-boot-rabbitmq

spring-boot-rabbitmq is a cursor rule for Cursor from lsampaioweb/ai-instructions. It costs 0 tokens per session (585 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of rules for connecting a Spring Boot application to RabbitMQ through Spring AMQP. RabbitMQ is a message broker that routes messages between producers and consumers using exchanges, queues, and bindings.

In plain words
What is it for?
It guides publishing and consuming messages, declaring exchanges and queues, configuring broker settings from the environment, and wiring message listeners.
Why use it?
It keeps broker connections, message topology, credentials, and JSON message conversion consistent without adding unnecessary low-level client dependencies.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00585
Opus 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00234
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00117
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00059

Security

Grade A, and why

spring-boot-rabbitmq scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 14d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 61 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Spring Boot RabbitMQ Contract

Apply this contract only when a Spring Boot application integrates with RabbitMQ through Spring AMQP. It governs the client application, not broker provisioning.

Pom owns dependency comments and ordering. Configuration owns profiles and secrets. Architecture owns feature packages, services, and constructor injection. Controller owns *RestController boundaries. Logging and i18n own log keys.

Dependency

  • Add org.springframework.boot:spring-boot-starter-amqp when the module publishes or consumes RabbitMQ messages.
  • Do not add a raw amqp-client dependency unless there is an approved need outside Spring AMQP.

Broker connection

  • Configure spring.rabbitmq.host, port, username, and password from environment variables (for example RABBITMQ_HOST / RABBITMQ_PORT with localhost defaults; user/password from env with no password default).

Topology

  • Declare exchange, queue, and binding beans in a dedicated @Configuration.
  • Externalize names under app.rabbitmq.* @ConfigurationProperties.
  • Match the exchange type to the feature: DirectExchange, FanoutExchange, TopicExchange, or HeadersExchange.
  • Declare durable exchanges and durable queues (durable=true, autoDelete=false).
  • Register a JacksonJsonMessageConverter @Bean for shared JSON conversion.

Publishing

  • Publish through RabbitTemplate from a dedicated producer, called from the service — not the REST controller.
  • On AmqpException, log and throw a feature-specific publish exception.
  • For headers exchanges, set required headers on the outbound message (for example a convertAndSend message post-processor).

Consuming

  • Consume with @RabbitListener on a dedicated consumer, using queue names from app.rabbitmq.* placeholders.
  • Keep listener methods focused on one message type.

Forbidden

  • Never put RabbitTemplate or @RabbitListener on a REST controller.
  • Never hardcode broker passwords in application*.yml.
  • Never declare application-owned topology only in the broker UI; keep exchanges and queues as Spring beans.
  • Never omit JacksonJsonMessageConverter when producers and listeners exchange Java objects as JSON.
  • Never treat a missing broker as a silent publish success.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
