fetch-firecrawl

fetch-firecrawl is a skill for Claude Code from 0xmariowu/Autosearch. It costs 49 tokens per session (385 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A URL-scraping connection that uses Firecrawl to return web pages as clean Markdown. Firecrawl uses a managed browser to handle JavaScript-rendered pages, anti-bot defenses, and PDFs, and requires a Firecrawl API key.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for scraping complex web pages and PDF documents into Markdown for later reading or research. It is also a fallback when other fetchers are blocked or insufficient.
Why use it?
It helps retrieve content that simple HTTP fetching cannot read because the page is generated in a browser, blocked, or stored as a PDF. If the key is missing, it reports a warning rather than silently claiming success.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00049 $0.00385
Opus 5.5 $0.00020 $0.00154
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00077
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00038

Security

Grade A, and why

fetch-firecrawl scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 2 executable files (__init__.py, methods/scrape.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Overview

Firecrawl turns any URL into clean Markdown via a managed browser cluster. Handles JS rendering, anti-bot defenses, and PDFs. Paid per-page; requires FIRECRAWL_API_KEY. When the key is missing, doctor() reports warn.

When to Choose It

  • Page is heavily JS-rendered (SPA, React, Next.js)
  • Target site blocks fetch-jina or fetch-crawl4ai
  • PDF or document conversion needed

How To Use

Call via run_channel("fetch-firecrawl", url) where the query IS the URL to scrape. Returns one Evidence item with body = full Markdown content.

Quality Bar

  • Evidence items have non-empty title and url.
  • No crash on empty or malformed API response.
  • Source channel field matches the channel name.
Files

What ships with it

2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

fetch-firecrawl is a skill published in the GitHub repository 0xmariowu/Autosearch (50 stars, last pushed 6d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 49 tokens to every session and 385 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-11.
