i18n-localization

i18n-localization is a skill for Codex from 6529-Collections/6529seize-frontend. It costs 60 tokens per session (449 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A guide for adding or reviewing internationalization and localization in a frontend application. Internationalization prepares software for multiple languages and regions; localization adapts it to each one.

In plain words
What is it for?
Extracting user-facing text, maintaining translation dictionaries, formatting locale-sensitive values, adding fallbacks, and checking pages in English, British English, French, Spanish, and German.
Why use it?
It helps keep translated text, dates, numbers, fallbacks, and accessible labels consistent across supported locales.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00060 $0.00449
Opus 5 $0.00030 $0.00225
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00090
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00045

Measured 10d ago against content hash 434ed05c8217, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-10, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

i18n-localization scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

I18n Localization

Use this skill for progressive internationalization work in this repository.

Workflow

  1. Read ops/standards/frontend-i18n-localization.md.
  2. Confirm the touched surface and whether an i18n path already exists nearby.
  3. Use en-US as the canonical source locale. Use en-GB, fr-FR, es-ES, and de-DE as the initial supported locale set.
  4. Extract visible copy and accessible names together. Include button text, tabs, labels, placeholders, tooltips, empty states, validation messages, error text, and aria-label values.
  5. Use message keys based on product meaning. Avoid sentence fragments and string concatenation.
  6. Route dates, numbers, percentages, relative time, and locale-sensitive sorting through repo helpers when available.
  7. Keep untranslated locales functional by falling back to en-US and record fallback debt when a page is not fully translated.
  8. Verify every supported locale for wrapping, formatting, missing-key behavior, and accessible labels.

Migration Boundaries

  • Do not introduce a broad i18n dependency unless the task explicitly requires it or the existing wrapper is no longer sufficient.
  • Do not move the full App Router tree under app/[lang] during component-level migration work.
  • Do not translate user-generated content unless the feature explicitly calls for it.

Validation

Prefer focused checks:

6529 run lint:changed
6529 run typecheck:changed
6529 run check:changed

For visible UI, run browser checks for the affected route in en-US, en-GB, fr-FR, es-ES, and de-DE when locale switching is available for the touched surface.

Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
