salesforce-cli

salesforce-cli is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from abdullahkhawer/devops-skills. It costs 27 tokens per session (845 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A skill for using Salesforce's command-line tool to work with Salesforce organizations. Salesforce is a hosted business platform that stores records and application metadata, such as accounts, code, and configuration.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to query records with Salesforce Query Language, list metadata, retrieve components, and deploy changes to a chosen organization.
Why use it?
It makes the target organization explicit, reducing the risk of querying or changing the wrong environment. It also supports read and deployment tasks from the command line.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00027 $0.00845
Opus 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00338
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00005 $0.00169
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00085

Security

Grade A, and why

salesforce-cli scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 23d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Salesforce CLI Skill

Use the org alias table and rules below when constructing all sf commands.

Configuration

Update the table below with your Salesforce org aliases before using this skill:

Environment Org Alias
Production <your-prod-org-alias>
Staging / Sandbox <your-sandbox-org-alias>

If the target org is unclear, ask the user before running any command.

Prerequisites (one-time setup by user)

If not already authenticated, inform the user that setup is required and ask them to complete the following steps manually. Do not perform these steps yourself.

brew install sf
sf org login web --alias <your-org-alias> --instance-url <your-instance-url>
sf org list

Command Format

Always pass --target-org explicitly — never rely on the default org:

sf <topic> <command> --target-org <org-alias> [options]

Examples

# Query records (SOQL)
sf data query --query "SELECT Id, Name FROM Account LIMIT 10" --target-org <your-sandbox-org-alias>

# List installed metadata components
sf project retrieve start --metadata ApexClass --target-org <your-sandbox-org-alias>

Available Commands

Read-only (safe, no confirmation needed)

Command Description
sf org list List authenticated orgs
sf org display --target-org <alias> Show org details
sf data query --query "<SOQL>" Run a SOQL query
sf data get record --sobject <type> --record-id <id> Get a specific record
sf project retrieve start --metadata <type> Retrieve metadata (read from org, writes locally)
sf apex run --file <file> (read-only Apex, e.g. System.debug) Execute anonymous Apex — only if the script has no DML
sf org open --target-org <alias> --url-only Get the org login URL without opening a browser

Mutating operations (confirm with user before running)

Command Description
sf data create record Create a new record
sf data update record Update an existing record
sf project deploy start Deploy metadata to an org
sf apex run --file <file> (with DML statements) Execute anonymous Apex that modifies data

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
