"德者才之主，才者德之奴。有才无德，如家无主而奴用事矣，几何不魍魉而猖狂？"
— 洪应明, 《菜根谭·应以德御才 勿恃才败德》
I — 方法论骨架 (Interpretation)
- 德是主人，才是奴隶。 这是洪应明最直接的主张：品德是主导，才学是附属。
- "有才无德，如家无主而奴用事"——没有主人的家，奴隶会胡作非为。 比喻很清楚：没有品德引导的才能，会失控。
- "魍魉而猖狂"——失去控制的才能，像鬼怪一样疯狂。 历史上多少"才子"最后成了"恶棍"，因为没有品德约束。
- 德才关系：德主才奴，不是非此即彼。 洪应明不是说要才不要德，而是说要以德率才、以德御才。
- 核心：能力越大，如果品德不够，破坏力越大。 这是这个原则的核心逻辑。
