google-ads-research

google-ads-research is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from ad-vertly/adextract-mcp-server. It costs 51 tokens per session (331 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A research workflow for the Google Ads Transparency Center, a public service that shows advertisements run by advertisers on Google and YouTube. It finds advertisers and ads, filters results, and reviews the returned creative material.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to research Google or YouTube advertisers and creatives by domain, advertiser, platform, format, region, or time period, then report patterns in the ads found.
Why use it?
It helps turn a brand, website, or advertiser name into evidence-based ad research instead of relying on guesses. It also records gaps when media or ad details are unavailable.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00051 $0.00331
Opus 5.5 $0.00020 $0.00132
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00066
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00033

Security

Grade A, and why

google-ads-research scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

When to use

Use this skill for Google Ads Transparency Center research by brand, domain, advertiser ID, platform, ad format, or date range.

Tool workflow

  1. Resolve the advertiser with search_google_ads_advertisers when the user gives only a brand name.
  2. Search creatives with search_google_ads using advertiser_id or domain.
  3. Filter deliberately with region, platform, ad_format, and time_period.
  4. Fetch full creative data with get_google_ad_details for the most relevant ads.
  5. Use ad_reader on returned media URLs or thumbnails before making creative claims.

Research defaults

  • Prefer domain when the user provides a website.
  • Prefer advertiser_id after resolving official advertisers.
  • Use platform: youtube for YouTube creative research.
  • Use ad_format: video, image, or text when the user asks about a format.
  • Paginate with next_page_token when the first result set is too thin.

Output

Return the advertiser source, filters used, notable creative patterns, funnel role, format mix, and 3-5 evidence-backed findings. Call out gaps caused by missing media or details results.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
