code-commit

A guided process for saving code changes in Git, a system that records versions of files.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for checking repository status and diffs, staging named files, matching the project's commit style, and creating a well-formed commit.
Why use it?
It helps review the exact changes, avoid committing secrets or unintended files, and write a clear commit message.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00060 $0.00535
Opus 5 $0.00030 $0.00267
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00107
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00053

Measured yesterday against content hash 060edcd9697d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

code-commit scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 70 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Code Commit

Guide for creating a git commit with proper staging and a meaningful commit message.

When This Skill Applies

Activate when the user wants to:

  • Commit staged or unstaged changes
  • Save work to version control
  • Create a git commit with a descriptive message

Pre-Commit Checklist

Before committing, always:

  1. Run git status to see what files have changed
  2. Run git diff (staged and unstaged) to review the changes
  3. Run git log --oneline -5 to understand the commit message style in this repo

Staging Files

  • Stage specific files by name rather than git add -A or git add .
  • Avoid staging files that may contain secrets (.env, credentials, private keys)
  • Avoid staging large binaries unless intentional

Writing the Commit Message

Follow these conventions:

  • First line: Short imperative summary, ≤72 characters (e.g., "Add user authentication", "Fix null pointer in parser")
  • Body (optional): Explain why — not what — if the change needs context. Wrap at 72 characters.
  • Match the style of recent commits in this repo (git log --oneline -10)

Verb guide:

  • Add — wholly new feature or file
  • Update — enhancement to existing functionality
  • Fix — bug fix
  • Remove — deleting functionality or files
  • Refactor — restructuring without behavior change

Creating the Commit

Always pass the message via a heredoc to preserve formatting:

git commit -m "$(cat <<'EOF'
Short summary here

Optional longer explanation of why this change was made.

EOF
)"

Safety Rules

  • NEVER amend published commits unless the user explicitly requests it
  • NEVER use --no-verify to skip hooks unless explicitly instructed
  • NEVER force-push to main/master
  • NEVER commit automatically — only when the user explicitly asks
  • If a pre-commit hook fails, fix the underlying issue and create a new commit; do NOT amend

After Committing

Run git status to confirm the commit succeeded and the working tree is clean.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

code-commit is a skill published in the GitHub repository AgentureHQ/agenture-loop (2 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 60 tokens to every session and 535 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
