deck-rescue

deck-rescue is a skill for Claude Code from ai-analyst-lab/ai-analyst-plugin. It costs 106 tokens per session (3,179 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A complete rewrite process for a failing presentation deck. It rebuilds the story, slide headlines, supporting evidence, and requested decision or action around a clear beginning, conflict, and resolution.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when an entire deck needs to be redone, especially after a poor critique or when the presentation lacks a clear narrative and specific ask.
Why use it?
It addresses problems that cannot be fixed by changing only one slide, such as a confusing story or unclear request. The output includes a rewritten Marp deck and a before-and-after comparison.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00106 $0.03179
Opus 5 $0.00053 $0.01589
Sonnet 5 $0.00021 $0.00636
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00318

Security

Grade A, and why

deck-rescue scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Skill: Deck Rescue

Purpose

Take a bad deck end-to-end and produce a complete rewrite: new narrative arc, new action headlines, decluttered evidence, and clear asks. Outputs a new Marp deck plus a before/after comparison document.

When to Use

Apply this skill when:

  1. A deck scores D or F on /deck-critique — needs a complete rewrite, not slide-level fixes
  2. The user asks to "rescue", "rewrite", or "redo" an entire deck from scratch
  3. The presentation-doctor agent prescribes a full rescue based on diagnosis severity

This skill can be invoked directly as /deck-rescue or called by the presentation-doctor orchestrator agent.

Inputs

  • {{DECK_SOURCE}}: Path to original Marp .marp.md file OR Google Slides presentation ID/URL
  • {{AUDIENCE}}: Who the presentation is for (required for rescue — cannot rewrite without knowing the audience)
  • {{CONTEXT}} (optional): What decision or meeting this deck supports
  • {{CRITIQUE}} (optional): Path to the deck critique from /deck-critique — saves re-diagnosis time
  • {{STORY}} (optional): Path to story extraction from the story-extractor agent — if provided, skips Step 2
  • {{THEME}} (optional): theme to apply — defaults to analytics per the auto-selection table in reference/presentation-standards.md (Marp-format analyst deliverables default light); pass analytics-dark for workshop/talk contexts

Instructions

Rescue Pipeline

The full rescue is a 7-step pipeline. If {{CRITIQUE}} or {{STORY}} are provided, the corresponding steps are shortened or skipped.

Step 1: Diagnose (or load critique)

If {{CRITIQUE}} is provided: Read the critique file and extract the per-slide scores, anti-patterns, and prescription. Skip to Step 2.

If not: Run the /deck-critique skill on {{DECK_SOURCE}}. Save to working/deck_critique_{{DATE}}.md.

Confirm the grade is D or F. If the grade is B or C, suggest /slide-transform instead — a full rescue may be overkill.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
