- Hardcoded light colours (#fff, #f5f5f5, black, #333, etc.) that will not adapt
- Background colours set without a dark mode counterpart
- Images or icons that are light-only (no dark variant)
- Box shadows using dark colours that will disappear on dark backgrounds
- Text colour assuming a light background
- CSS that uses prefers-color-scheme incorrectly
Fix strategy:
- Replace hardcoded colours with CSS custom properties
- Add [data-theme="dark"] or @media (prefers-color-scheme: dark) overrides
- Provide the complete before → after for each fix
