texture

texture is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from AlexeyPerov/Unity-Open-MCP. It costs 0 tokens per session (1,770 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A connector for Unity texture import settings, which control how image files are brought into a game project and used as textures or sprites.

In plain words
What is it for?
Changing texture import settings and working with imported 2D image assets in a Unity project.
Why use it?
It removes the need to adjust texture import options manually for each asset in the Unity Editor. The feature is built into Unity and does not require an extra package.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.01770
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00885
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00354
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00177

Security

Grade A, and why

texture scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Unity Open MCP — Texture Extension

Skill for AI agents driving Unity texture import settings in a project through the unity-open-mcp MCP server.

This domain is embedded in the bridge and opt-in. Its tools use the built-in TextureImporter (UnityEditor.CoreModule) — no Unity package install is required, and they compile into every bridge build. Its tool group is hidden from ListTools until the connected session activates it.

Preconditions

  • Unity Editor is open with the target project.
  • unity_open_mcp_ping returns connected: true.
  • The sprite2d tool group is activated — call unity_open_mcp_manage_tools(action="activate", group="sprite2d") before invoking any Texture (or SpriteAtlas) tool. Fresh sessions start with two default-on groups (core and gate-and-verify); activate the other groups you need on demand. Because TextureImporter is built-in, capabilities always reports the sprite2d group as available: true (no domainDefine).

Tool prefix

unity_open_mcp_texture_* — Texture import. The sprite2d group is shared with the SpriteAtlas family (unity_open_mcp_spriteatlas_*); see the SpriteAtlas extension skill for the atlas-packing half of the 2D art pipeline.

Mutating tools (texture_set_import, texture_reimport) accept the standard paths_hint and run the full gate path (editor_settle lifecycle — a reimport can take seconds and may trigger a platform-switch domain reload); read-only tools (texture_get_importer, texture_get) are gate-free.

Two read paths

  • texture_get_importer — the import-pipeline config (TextureImporter settings: textureType, npotScale, maxTextureSize, textureCompression, spriteImportMode, filterMode, …). What the asset will be when imported.
  • texture_get — the runtime Texture info (width, height, format, mipmapCount, filterMode). What the asset currently is in memory.

Use get_importer to read/edit import settings; use get to confirm the imported result. They are complementary.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

texture is a skill published in the GitHub repository AlexeyPerov/Unity-Open-MCP (12 stars, last pushed 9d ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 1,770 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
