About the project

Apache Magpie is a framework of agent-assisted workflows for maintaining Apache software projects, including issue triage, pull-request review, contributor mentoring, and security-report handling. Apache maintainers and developers use it to delegate repetitive project work to coding agents while retaining human review. Its catalogue entries are the skills, instructions, plugin, and settings that implement these workflows.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00071 $0.06965
Opus 5 $0.00036 $0.03483
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.01393
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00696

Security

Grade B, and why

magpie-setup-isolated-setup-install scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Runtime routing (run before the Claude-specific procedure)

Determine the active harness from the session metadata and executable. When it is Codex, follow the install lifecycle in docs/adapters/codex.md, including the project profile merge, static lint, project trust, and agent-iso codex steps. Do not write Claude settings or report a missing .claude file as a Codex failure. After completing the Codex branch, stop; the remainder of this skill is the Claude Code branch.

When the harness is Claude Code, continue below. If the harness cannot be determined, ask once rather than applying one runtime's policy to another.

This skill is the on-ramp for adopters who do not yet have the secure setup running. It is a thin walkthrough wrapper around the canonical install path documented in docs/setup/secure-agent-setup.md. The authoritative content lives there; this skill exists so an adopter can say "set up the secure agent setup" in a fresh session and land in the right step-by-step flow without first reading the document.

Adopter overrides

Before running the default behaviour documented below, this skill consults .apache-magpie-local/setup-isolated-setup-install.md (personal, gitignored) and .apache-magpie-overrides/setup-isolated-setup-install.md (committed, project-wide) in the adopter repo if it exists, and applies any agent-readable overrides it finds. See docs/setup/agentic-overrides.md for the contract — what overrides may contain, hard rules, the reconciliation flow on framework upgrade, upstreaming guidance.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
