playwright

playwright is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from ashish7802/awesome-api-skills. It costs 0 tokens per session (488 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A browser testing and automation framework that opens Chromium, Firefox, or WebKit and simulates actions a real user would take.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for end-to-end tests of web applications, including clicking controls, filling forms, and checking results in multiple browsers.
Why use it?
It helps catch broken user journeys and reduces flaky tests by waiting for pages and controls to be ready.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00488
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00244
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00098
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00049

Security

Grade A, and why

playwright scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (examples/test.ts), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Playwright Skill

End-to-end testing for modern web apps.

Quick Start

Playwright is a framework for Web Testing and Automation. It runs headless browsers (Chromium, WebKit, Firefox) to simulate user interactions.

npm init playwright@latest

Production Patterns

Auto-Waiting and Locators

Never use page.waitForTimeout(5000). Rely on Playwright's Locators (page.getByRole('button')) which automatically wait for the element to be visible, enabled, and stable before clicking.

Architecture & Scaling

Parallel Execution

Playwright runs tests in parallel by default using multiple worker processes. Ensure your backend database can handle concurrent test executions, or use isolated database branches (e.g., Neon) for each test shard.

Error Recovery

If tests flake due to network latency, configure automatic retries in playwright.config.ts (retries: process.env.CI ? 2 : 0).

Security Notes

Do not expose real user credentials in your test files. Seed a test database dynamically before the test run, or utilize dedicated test environment variables injected by the CI runner.

Relationships

Works Well With: github-actions, nextjs

Why use this skill

Use this when your agent works with playwright — structured patterns beat pasted docs and prevent common hallucinations.

AI pitfalls

  • Referencing CLI flags or config keys that do not exist
  • Using outdated major versions of tools
  • Skipping lockfile or version pinning in examples

Production checklist

  • Secrets in environment variables, not source code
  • Error handling and logging in place
  • Rate limits and timeouts configured

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

playwright is a skill published in the GitHub repository ashish7802/awesome-api-skills (13 stars, last pushed 7d ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 488 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
