kamehadb: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/context-handoff/SKILL.md

context-handoff is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from asta-nguyen/kamehadb. It costs 28 tokens per session (897 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A checkpoint-writing procedure for an unfinished coding session that may pause, span several phases, or run out of conversation space.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to record the objective, phase, status, decisions, and relevant repository state before handing work over.
Why use it?
It prevents important decisions, current progress, and verification results from being lost between sessions. Another session can use the saved checkpoint to continue.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00028 $0.00897
Opus 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00359
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00179
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00090

Security

Grade A, and why

context-handoff scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 19d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Context Handoff

Create one compact, source-grounded checkpoint so another session can resume without relying on conversation memory.

When to use

Use this skill only when the task is unfinished and one of these is true:

  • the session is approaching its context limit;
  • the work spans multiple phases or will continue in another session; or
  • the user asks to pause, hand off, or resume later.

Do not create handoffs for short tasks that are already complete.

Write the checkpoint

  1. Read AGENTS.md, then inspect git status --short, the relevant diff, the change's decisions.md and the other decision sources in implement-task's ## Decision sources, and the relevant wiki page or test output. Source and fresh command output are authoritative; conversation memory is not.

  2. For a change, create handoff.md in its change folder; if one already exists, overwrite it with the current state. For work that belongs to no change, create the handoff at docs/agent-devkit/handoffs/YYYY-MM-DD-<slug>.md, named per using-devkit's ## Shared rules. Use this structure:

    # Handoff: <task>

    ## Objective

    <The user-visible outcome still being pursued>

    ## State

    - Phase: <brainstorm | plan | implement | debug | verify | document>
    - Current task: <first `tasks.md` task not `done`, or none>
    - Approval: <`tasks.md` gate status | Bounded design approved YYYY-MM-DD — <one-line design> | none>
    - Status: <what is complete and what is in progress>

    ## Decisions

    - <D<n> summary and source artifact link, or None>

    ## Evidence

    - `<command>` — <result and exit status>

    ## Changed files

    - `<path>` — <why it changed, or "user change">

    ## Remaining work

    - <smallest next actions, in order>

    ## Risks and blockers

    - <known issue or "None">

    ## Next action

<The first concrete action for the next session>

  3. Keep the checkpoint factual and short. Do not claim a test, build, link, or requirement passes without fresh evidence. Do not copy secrets or full logs; record the command and relevant result instead.

  4. For a standalone handoff, if docs/agent-devkit/INDEX.md exists, add it under a ## Handoffs section. A change's handoff.md needs no separate entry; the change folder's own index entry covers it. Do not create a second index.

  5. Run git diff --check and read the created checkpoint before stopping.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

context-handoff is a skill published in the GitHub repository asta-nguyen/kamehadb (14 stars, last pushed 10d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 28 tokens to every session and 897 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-05.
