home-ops: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/app-workloads/SKILL.md

app-workloads is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Aviator-Coding/home-ops. It costs 82 tokens per session (902 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to Kubernetes application pods, including their security settings, health checks, persistent-volume mounts, and container images. A pod is the unit that runs one or more containers in Kubernetes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing pod specifications, filesystem permissions, probes, volume mounts, read-only containers, or applications using persistent storage.
Why use it?
It prevents settings that the chart silently ignores, ownership changes that rewrite an entire volume, and containers that appear ready but cannot write their data.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00082 $0.00902
Opus 5.5 $0.00033 $0.00361
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00016 $0.00180
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00090

Security

Grade A, and why

app-workloads scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 25d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 65 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

App pod specs: securityContext, fsGroup, probes and PVC mounts

An app can be Ready, probed, and backed up while it cannot write its own volume. Nothing in flate catches that.

Tripwires

  1. A pod-options key the chart does not read is discarded. app-template's schema is too loose to warn. selfhostedPodOptions (and any other name the chart does not know) ships securityContext: {}. flate stays green. The key the chart reads is the one sibling apps use. Render the pod and read securityContext before trusting a values edit. pod-security.md
  2. fsGroup re-owns existing content, including with OnRootMismatch. Both Ceph CSI drivers are fsGroupPolicy: File. OnRootMismatch skips the walk only when the volume root already matches. Adding or changing fsGroup is the mismatch that chowns the tree on the next mount. The chown persists after the manifest is reverted.
  3. linuxserver images need both opt-in env vars under this repo's non-root, read-only-rootfs convention: LSIO_NON_ROOT_USER: "true" and LSIO_READ_ONLY_FS: "true". Still required: emptyDir at /run and /tmp, and a root initContainer that chowns them first. Worked example: kubernetes/apps/base/downloads/bazarr/app/helmrelease.yaml.
  4. A probe must be able to return non-200. n8n's /healthz is an unconditional ok, so the pod stayed Ready through a multi-day database outage. The DB-aware path is /healthz/readiness. Curl a knowingly broken instance before trusting a path. probes.md
  5. An RWO claim needs strategy: Recreate. A second pod cannot mount it, so a RollingUpdate sits on the old pod until the deploy times out.
  6. Intentional read-only is volumeMounts[].readOnly: true. The pod-wide skip annotation on the writable check is an unused escape hatch. Skill pvc-integrity-checks.
  7. Never seed a Secret with client-side kubectl apply. The value lands in last-applied-configuration. Skill secrets-1password.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

app-workloads is a skill published in the GitHub repository Aviator-Coding/home-ops (3 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 82 tokens to every session and 902 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-29.
