thesis-flowchart

thesis-flowchart is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from BAOXI11/thesis-flowchart. It costs 139 tokens per session (1,067 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A tool for creating and checking academic process diagrams called flowcharts. It is designed for theses, dissertations, graduation projects, papers, and similar formal work.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to draw, revise, standardise, and validate workflows, algorithms, business processes, experimental procedures, and other thesis figures.
Why use it?
It turns written process logic into consistent, editable diagrams while checking decisions, branches, loops, and layout requirements. It also follows stated academic styling and export requirements.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00139 $0.01067
Opus 5 $0.00069 $0.00534
Sonnet 5 $0.00028 $0.00213
Haiku 4.5 $0.00014 $0.00107

Security

Grade A, and why

thesis-flowchart scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Thesis Flowchart

Core Approach

Create deterministic vector diagrams. Do not use generative image models for precise flowcharts. Default to editable SVG with a white background, black strokes, top-to-bottom layout, no internal figure title/number, and academic black-and-white styling.

Before drawing, read references/flowchart_standards.md. When the user wants a compact course-paper or undergraduate thesis style, also read references/local_html_reference_style.md. For final checks or PNG/PDF delivery, read references/export_checklist.md.

Information To Gather

If the request lacks enough process logic, ask only for the missing essentials:

  • Flowchart name and thesis use.
  • Complete ordered steps.
  • Decision nodes and their conditions.
  • Each decision's yes/no branch targets.
  • Loops, subprocesses, or parallel steps.
  • Vertical or horizontal layout preference.
  • Thesis page width, single-column/double-column requirement, or target size.
  • Required output formats: SVG by default; PNG/PDF on request.
  • School rules for font size, line width, color, and captions.

If the user does not specify typography, state the default font size used. Use a consistent size across the chart.

Workflow

  1. Extract start, end, inputs, outputs, process nodes, decision nodes, subprocesses, branches, loops, and inferred links from the user's text.
  2. Stop and ask when branch logic is incomplete, ordering is ambiguous, or a decision lacks yes/no outcomes.
  3. Draft a structured flow list before rendering. Keep user-provided terms, variables, algorithms, and module names unchanged unless a typo is obvious.
  4. Encode the flow as JSON using scripts/generate_flowchart.py's schema.
  5. Generate SVG first:
python scripts/generate_flowchart.py --spec examples/zh/simple_research.json --out out/simple_research.svg
  1. Validate the structured flow and SVG:
python scripts/validate_flowchart.py --spec examples/zh/simple_research.json --svg out/simple_research.svg

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

thesis-flowchart is a skill published in the GitHub repository BAOXI11/thesis-flowchart (54 stars, last pushed 28d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 139 tokens to every session and 1,067 once invoked, about $0.0007 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
