spokeagent-query-jobs

spokeagent-query-jobs is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from BaranziniLab/SPOKEAgent. It costs 41 tokens per session (564 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A workflow for sending long, read-only database queries to a background worker and retrieving their local exports. It covers Cypher, the query language used by Neo4j graph databases, and SQL Server queries.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect query plans, submit one-off long-running queries, monitor their status, and save complete results locally.
Why use it?
It avoids keeping a large or slow query attached to an interactive session, especially after a timeout or when its cost and result size are unclear. It also provides limits for run time and disk use.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00041 $0.00564
Opus 5.5 $0.00016 $0.00226
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00113
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00056

Security

Grade A, and why

spokeagent-query-jobs scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 21d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Use existing schema/concept/entity tools for discovery and small previews. Resolve identifiers before joining or traversing. For full exports, unbounded scans, or a previous timeout, call spoke-submit_query_job; it launches the CLI worker in the background and returns a job ID immediately. Credentials are injected by BioRouter. Never ask the user to paste credentials into chat or shell arguments.

  1. Establish filters and projections. Prefer indexed anchors; avoid SELECT * and expensive counts solely for sizing. SQL Server parameters use %(name)s; Neo4j parameters use $name. Supply them in the parameters object.
  2. If cost is uncertain, submit mode="explain" first and inspect the completed local plan. It does not execute the query. SQL Server SHOWPLAN may require additional permission; lack of a plan is not evidence of a cheap query.
  3. Submit the query once. Set an explicit timeout budget (default 3600 seconds, maximum 86400) and a disk budget (max_bytes, default 10 GB). Do not run more than two simultaneous jobs per connector. Add expected_rows only if already known or reasonably estimated, and tell the user it is an estimate.
  4. Poll spoke-query_job_status using its recommended_poll_seconds (5–60). Status is immediate and contains phase, elapsed time, rows, bytes and heartbeat. Report unknown ETA honestly during blocking execution. Historical-query and streaming-rate estimates are advisory; changing load invalidates them.
  5. Only completed supplies a complete result_path. Process CSV/JSONL locally; send summaries to chat. Exports do not silently apply an MCP preview row cap.
  6. On failed, timed_out or interrupted, inspect the cause and revise the plan before a new submission. Partial files are not complete datasets. There is no automatic retry, keyset checkpoint, or safe general-purpose query resume. Use spoke-cancel_query_job for unwanted work, then poll to terminal state.

CLI status needs no credentials: from the installed extension directory, run uv run spokeagent status JOB_ID or uv run spokeagent watch JOB_ID. A user running standalone CLI submissions can configure its separate OS-keyring profile once with uv run spokeagent auth; BioRouter submissions already use its own credential store and do not require that step. Never dump either credential store.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
