staad-loading

staad-loading is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from BentleySystems/openstaad-mcp. It costs 177 tokens per session (2,196 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill for defining loads in STAAD.Pro, a structural engineering program. It covers load cases, self-weight, node and member loads, plate pressure, temperature, wind, seismic, and load combinations.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create and activate load cases, apply gravity or other loads to model elements, define load combinations, and query load data.
Why use it?
It helps represent the forces and conditions a structural model must withstand in a consistent way.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00177 $0.02196
Opus 5 $0.00088 $0.01098
Sonnet 5 $0.00035 $0.00439
Haiku 4.5 $0.00018 $0.00220

Security

Grade A, and why

staad-loading scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 2 executable files (scripts/hydrostatic-tank.py, scripts/self-weight.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

STAAD.Pro Loading

Instructions

  • Define the shorthand once per script: load = staad.Load

Load Cases

  • load.CreateNewPrimaryLoad(title) → load case ID
  • load.CreateNewPrimaryLoadEx(title, loadType) → typed case
  • load.CreateNewPrimaryLoadEx2(title, loadType, loadCaseNo) → typed with explicit number
  • Always call load.SetLoadActive(lcId) before adding any items to that case

Load type codes (full table in the Reference section — LOAD_CODES.md):

loadType Meaning
0 Dead
1 Live
3 Wind
4 Seismic-H
5 Snow
7 Fluids

Self-Weight

load.AddSelfWeightInXYZ(direction, factor) — direction is an integer, factor is a float.

direction Axis When to use
1 X Lateral
2 Y Gravity when IsZUp()==False (Y-up)
3 Z Gravity when IsZUp()==True (Z-up)

factor: -1.0 for gravity (negative = downward along the axis)

# Apply to all elements
load.AddSelfWeightInXYZ(3 if geo.IsZUp() else 2, -1.0)

# Apply to specific elements only
load.AddSelfWeightInXYZToGeometry(elementIds, 3 if geo.IsZUp() else 2, -1.0)

Nodal Loads

load.AddNodalLoad(nodeIds, FX, FY, FZ, MX, MY, MZ)

# Support displacement (prescribed)
load.AddSupportDisplacement(nodeIds, direction, value)

Member Loads

Uniform force (full or partial span):

direction Coordinate system direction Coordinate system
1 Local X 4 Global X
2 Local Y 5 Global Y
3 Local Z 6 Global Z
7-9 Projected X/Y/Z

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

staad-loading is a skill published in the GitHub repository BentleySystems/openstaad-mcp (41 stars, last pushed 3d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 177 tokens to every session and 2,196 once invoked, about $0.0009 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
