frites-connectivity

frites-connectivity is a skill for Claude Code from brainets/braina. It costs 121 tokens per session (1,271 once invoked), scanned A, original, BSD-3-Clause.

A reference for eight Frites methods that measure relationships between pairs of brain or neural signals. It explains what each method computes, how data is shaped, and how their shared information-based estimator works.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it after selecting a Frites connectivity tool to understand measures such as causality, interaction information, transfer entropy, and related pairwise analyses.
Why use it?
Connectivity methods can have different names while using closely related calculations and assumptions. The guide helps prevent misreading their inputs, parameters, and results.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00121 $0.01271
Opus 5.5 $0.00048 $0.00508
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00024 $0.00254
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00127

Security

Grade A, and why

frites-connectivity scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 29d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Frites connectivity measures

Covers the 8 pairwise connectivity tools braina exposes - frites_conn_covgc, frites_conn_dfc, frites_conn_pid, frites_conn_ii, frites_conn_te, frites_conn_fit, frites_conn_spec, frites_conn_ccf - and the two post-processing tools frites_conn_reshape and frites_conn_net.

Per-tool detail (every parameter, output layout, interpretation, references) lives in references/ next to this file (${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/skills/frites-connectivity/references/). Read the matching reference file before answering a parameter-level question; this page only holds what applies to all of them.

Tool Question it answers Reference file
frites_conn_covgc Does A drive B (directed, time-resolved, per trial)? references/covgc.md
frites_conn_te Directed influence scanned over a range of delays references/te-fit.md
frites_conn_fit How much information about feature y flows A->B references/te-fit.md
frites_conn_dfc Undirected coupling over (sliding) windows, per trial references/dfc.md
frites_conn_spec Coherence / PLV / cross-spectrum per frequency and time references/spec-ccf.md
frites_conn_ccf Raw temporal lag between two signals references/spec-ccf.md
frites_conn_pid Unique / redundant / synergistic information of a pair about y references/pid-ii.md
frites_conn_ii Net synergy-minus-redundancy of a pair about y references/pid-ii.md
frites_conn_reshape, frites_conn_net, plot_result Turning pair-wise outputs into matrices, net flow, figures references/post-processing.md

Data conventions (apply to every tool)

  • Input (n_epochs, n_roi, n_times). Use a .nc file whose coordinates are named exactly roi and times and whose attrs['sfreq'] is set: the wrappers pass those names to Frites, so ROI labels and a time axis in seconds survive into the output. A .npy input (or other coordinate names) gets roi_0, roi_1, ... and a 1 Hz axis instead - use convert_to_nc first.
  • Pair labels in outputs: undirected tools give A-B, directed tools give A->B (covgc gives A-B plus a direction coordinate x->y, y->x, x.y).
  • Every tool returns a text summary (shape, dims, coords, min/mean/max) of the file it wrote; use it before deciding whether to inspect_data.
  • n_jobs (parallel pairs) is exposed on covgc, dfc, te, spec and ccf; default 1.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

frites-connectivity is a skill published in the GitHub repository brainets/braina (5 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed BSD-3-Clause. It adds 121 tokens to every session and 1,271 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-14.
